Himalayan Salt Lamps

Where do Himalayan salt lamps come from?

Himalayan salt lamps are mined from deep within the Himalayan mountains. The majority of pink salt products and Himalayan salt lamps are produced in a salt mine in Pakistan called Khewra. It is typically mined in a similar fashion to underground coal mining where it is then brought to the surface and hand carved, meaning no two Himalayan salt lamps are the same.

Benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamps

When it comes to holistic health, Himalayan salt lamps are very sought after. Health experts have revealed a number of benefits to using Himalayan salt lamps such as preserving natural air quality by producing negative ions. Negative ions are naturally created by wind, sunlight, surf and rain. They are electronically charged molecules made up of oxygen while a positively charged ion is a molecule that has lost it’s electrons because of air pollution. Himalayan salt lamps are recommended for people suffering from allergies, respiratory and blood system diseases and also rheumatism.

Allergy sufferers will also benefit greatly from having a Himalayan salt lamp in their bedroom as it will improve the air quality and reduce airborne bacteria that can trigger allergy symptoms.

Another benefit is that they create a beautiful peaceful light which makes any room relaxing and calming. Both of my children used to have trouble going to sleep at night until I put a Himalayan salt lamp beside their bed, now they both sleep through the night without any problems.

Are Himalayan Salt Lamps Safe?

Himalayan salt lamps are perfectly safe to use in your home at all times. The best light bulb to use is an oven light bulb which is a low wattage bulb and does not draw a lot of power. Himalayan salt lamps do not get hot while in use and therefore are safe to touch. It is recommended to use your lamp regularly, particularly if you live in a humid area or else it will leak moisture.
